New online calculator assesses how 5 lifestyle factors impact life expectancy

Wondering how long you will live? This week scientists from Ontario, Canada released an online longevity calculator to help individuals realize the impact that five controllable risk factors - diet, alcohol intake, smoking, physical activity and stress - have on their overall health and life expectancy.

The calculator was developed based on data from a new report that identified these five lifestyle factors are linked to 60 percent of deaths in Ontario. While the calculator is not 100 percent accurate, nor does it account for pre-existing illness, it does give you an indication of how these lifestyle choices can impact your longevity. And it certainly gives you a clear sense of what areas need improvement for better health.
