Basic Tempeh Recipe 101

Entrees, Pastas and Stir-fries, Pizza, Sandwiches and Wraps.
This recipe serves as the basis for stir fries, pasta sauces, sandwich strips and many other uses. It makes a great appetizer when served with cranberry satay or other dipping sauce. 

Basic Tempeh Recipe 101


Quantity Ingredients
1 pkg (250 g) tempeh, cubed (1/2
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp pureed garlic
1 tbsp frozen orange juice concentrate (optional)


1. Combine soy sauce, ginger, garlic and orange juice concentrate (if using). Marinate cubed or sliced tempeh for 1/2 hour or more. 2. Saute tempeh (vegetable oil with a bit of sesame oil is great), or broil tempeh 5 minutes on each side (toaster oven works great). 3. (Optional) Add 2 cups chopped veggies and 1 cup water to pan, plus any other seasonings you desire. Steam five minutes until veggies are soft. Serve over rice or pasta with your favourite sauce. Option: Forget the veggies and use the Tempeh for sandwiches, appetizers or with pancakes as a bacon substitute.
