Blueberry Almond Smoothie

Beverages.
Almonds are a rich source of monounsaturated fats, vitamin E and magnesium – all of which promote heart health.  That’s why I’ve added them to this smoothie.  While the recipe calls for blueberries, any sort of berry can be substituted, including raspberries and strawberries.

Blueberry Almond Smoothie

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredients
1 cup low fat (1% MF or less) milk or soymilk
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
2 tbsp sliced almonds
2 tsp maple syrup
1 banana, peeled and chopped
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

In a blender, combine milk, orange juice, blueberries, almonds, maple syrup, banana and vanilla.  Puree until smooth.

Serve cold.

Serves 2.

Per serving (1 cup): 242cal, 9g pro, 9 g total fat (1 g saturated fat), 35 g carb, 3 g fibre, 6 mg chol, 62 mg sodium
