Bruce Trail Mix

Whether it’s for the West Coast Trail, Cabot Trail or Bruce Trail, this trail mix is the perfect snack to keep you energized while hiking. It also makes for a tasty midday snack.

Bruce Trail Mix


Quantity Ingredients
1/2 cup / 125 ml slivered almonds
1/4 cup / 50 ml walnut halves
2 tbsp / 25 ml dried cherries
2 tbsp / 25 ml dark chocolate chips
1/2 cup / 125 ml toasted large-flake rolled oats


To toast oats (optional, but adds a nutty flavour), spread the oats on a baking sheet and pop them in an oven heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Toast for 10 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown.

In a large mixing bowl, toss together almonds, walnuts, dried cherries, chocolate chips and oats.

Store in an airtight container.

Serves 6.

Tip: Make a batch of toasted oats. They're delicious cooked as oatmeal or soaked overnight for a quick breakfast.
