| 1 | medium onion, chopped |
| 3 tbsp. | butter |
| 1 | egg, beaten |
| 1/3 cup | coarsely ground uncooked kasha |
| 1 1/2 cup | water |
| 1/3 cup | long grain rice |
| 2 tsp. | instant beef or chicken granules |
| 1/2 tsp. | dried basil, crushed |
| 2 tbsp. | snipped parsley |
Directions
- Cook onion in butter until tender, not brown.
- In a separate bowl, stir uncooked kasha and egg together. Add to butter and onion and stir until each grain is coated.
- Stir in water, rice, beef or chicken bouillon granules and basil. Bring to boil.
- Reduce heat, cover and simmer until tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in snipped parsley.
Serves 4.
