Herbed Kasha Pilaf


Quantity Ingredients
1 medium onion, chopped
3 tbsp. butter
1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup coarsely ground uncooked kasha
1 1/2 cup water
1/3 cup long grain rice
2 tsp. instant beef or chicken granules
1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
2 tbsp. snipped parsley


  1. Cook onion in butter until tender, not brown.
  2. In a separate bowl, stir uncooked kasha and egg together. Add to butter and onion and stir until each grain is coated.
  3. Stir in water, rice, beef or chicken bouillon granules and basil. Bring to boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in snipped parsley.

Serves 4.
