Herbed Pita Chips

Snacks.
These pita chips are so easy to make and are a healthier alternative to most store-bought chips.  Eat them on their own, or serve them with hummus, guacamole, tzatziki or salsa.

Herbed Pita Chips

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredients
4-6 inch (15 cm) whole wheat pitas, cut into 8 wedges
1.5 tbsp / 22 ml extra-virgin olive oil
2 tsp / 10 ml Herbes de Provence
1/2 tsp / 2 ml coarse sea salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

In large bowl, toss together sliced pita, olive oil, herbs and sea salt.  Using clean hands, rub the oil and spice mixture into the bread, until coated evenly.

Lay pita chips in a single layer on a baking sheet; bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until chips are crispy.  Let cool before serving.

Herbs de Provence is traditionally a mix of dried spices, including thyme, rosemary, savory, lavender and tarragon.  You can substitute any dried herb for Herbs de Provence in this recipe, including basil, oregano or rosemary.  Alternatively, use ground cumin, paprika, garlic powder or freshly ground black pepper.
