Spicy Sesame Swiss Chard

Swiss chard is truly a nutrition powerhouse. It's packed with antioxidants, magnesium, potassium and bone-building vitamin K. This version of the sauteéd green gets a flavour boost from toasted sesame oil.

Spicy Sesame Swiss Chard


Quantity Ingredients
2 tsp / 10 ml toasted sesame oil
1 clove garlic, chopped
8 cups / 1 L Swiss chard, washed and trimmed
1/8 tsp / 0.5 ml red pepper flakes, or to taste
2 tsp/ 10 ml toasted sesame seeds


Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat.  Add garlic and red pepper flakes and sauté for one minute.  Add Swiss chard; cover and sauté for 6 to 8 minutes, or until chard is wilted and soft.

Remove from heat.  Sprinkle sesame seeds.

Serves 4.
