Sesame-Crusted Tofu

Entrees.
The tofu in this recipe needs marinating for only one hour, but it’s even more flavourful when marinated overnight. Enjoy these tofu cutlets on their own, in a burrito or as a sandwich filling.

Sesame-Crusted Tofu

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredients
2 tbsp / 25 ml sodium-reduced soy sauce
2 tbsp / 25 ml freshly squeezed lime juice
1 tsp / 5 ml sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 package (12 oz/350 g) extra firm tofu, cut into 8 slices
1/4 cup / 50 ml sesame seeds
1 tbsp / 15 ml canola oil

Directions

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil and garlic.

Lay tofu in a single layer in a glass baking dish. Pour soy sauce mixture over tofu and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Spread sesame seeds on a plate. Remove tofu from marinade one piece at a time and dredge in sesame seeds.

Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Add tofu and reduce heat to medium-high; fry for 6 to 8 minutes per side or until tofu begins to brown and gets crispy.
